We are happy to publish a free copy of ‘The Carmelite Directory of the Spiritual Life‘, translated from the Latin version entitled ‘Directorium Carmelitarum Vitae Spiritualis‘ by Joannes a Cruce Brenninger O.Carm
I have been reading this book and love it. Can you tell me something about the author, Joannes a Cruce Brenninger O.Carm? When did he live. What is his story?
Thanks for your query. We are glad you read “The Carmelite Directory of the Spiritual Life” by the late Carmelite Iohannes a Cruce Brenninger. He is a 20th century Carmelite who resided in Rome and was involved in the academic and spiritual formation of Carmelites. He wrote the Directory in the 1940’s originally in Latin, then translated into modern languages: Italian, Spanish, English, Maltese, and other. This text was intended for novices, but soon it became a Classic on its own and a bestseller as a treatise or compendium for the spiritual journey.
