The first World Meeting of Families (WMOF) took place in Rome in 1994 (October), with the theme: The Family: The heart of the civilization of love. St John Paul II wished to start an international event of prayer, catechesis and celebration that would draw participants from around the globe and that would help to strengthen the bonds between families and bear witness to the crucial importance of marriage and the family to all of society.

This year (2018), WMOF is being hosted in Ireland. General information about the event and other may be viewed at This year OASI Group from the Priory will participate in the World Meeting of Families. OASI Group aims at being led by ‘families for families’, and thus is a communion of Christian families who, inspired by Carmelite espousal spirituality, desire to journey together in faith. OASI aims at nurturing and confirming in the faith the Christian family, and to always keep focused on Christ, ‘author and perfector of our faith’ (Heb 12, 2).

Formation meetings include catechesis, prayer, the sharing of the faith and fraternal gathering to enable the growth of communion in family spirituality and Christian support for each couple. The meeting is held fortnightly at the Mdina Carmelite Priory. Should any couple be interested in journeying with other couples, contact us for more information.
